LE LLC

Privacy Policy

This is the agreement between you and LE about your information — what LE collects, why, who touches it, how long it stays, and what is yours to change. It is written to be read.

1. Who we are

LE is a subscription social platform made by LE LLC, a North Dakota limited liability company. There are no advertisers here, no data brokers, no tracking pixels, and nothing about you is sold, rented, or traded. You pay a subscription; that is the whole business model, and it is why this document can be short and plain.

This policy covers wearele.com, the LE app on your phone, and every message LE sends you. "We," "us" and "LE" mean LE LLC. "You" means the person holding the account — or, for a business account, the business and the person answerable for it, together with anyone the owner has allowed to operate it.

If you have a question this document does not answer, write to privacy@wearele.com. A person reads it.

2. The principle this policy is written under

LE is built on one principle: every person here has complete worth, and no one is above or below anyone else. Your information is handled the same way. It is not a resource LE mines or a position LE holds over you; it is yours, held for you, for as long as you want to be here, and only for the purpose of being here. Where any sentence in this policy could be read two ways, it is to be read in the way that keeps your information yours.

3. What we collect

When you create an account, we ask for an email address and password, a handle and display name, your country, your date of birth, and your sex (male or female). Your date of birth is how LE knows you are at least 14, and whether you are under 18. Your date of birth and sex are never shown to anyone and cannot be changed from inside the app.

If you are under 18, we also ask you to name two adults you feel safe with — for each one, a name, how you know them, and an email address. At least one is required. A phone number is asked for and never required: LE cannot send text messages yet, and collects numbers now so that when it can, every member already has that second way of being reached. This is a danger line and nothing else. LE never contacts that person about your ordinary activity, never asks them to approve anything, and never shows them what you do here. They are contacted only if LE has real reason to believe you are in danger. The line is required until you are 18, and you can change who is on it at any time. By naming them you confirm you have their permission to give LE their contact details.

When you subscribe, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. LE never sees or stores your card number. Stripe collects your billing address as part of checkout; LE stores only your country. The full address stays with Stripe and is retrieved by LE only in a confirmed child-safety case where the law requires it.

What you make here — posts, reels, stories, comments, direct messages, playlists, your bio and profile links, and the photos and video inside them — is stored so LE can show it to the people you chose to show it to. Reels are hosted and streamed by Cloudflare. Photos are stored by Supabase. If your content includes other people, you are responsible for having their permission.

If you apply for a business account, we collect the business's legal name and type; the name, email address, date of birth and sex of the person answerable for it (who must be 18 or older); what the business offers and how it is made or delivered; and the website and shop addresses LE will link to. A card is saved at application and charged only if the business is approved. Anyone the owner adds to operate the business account does so from their own LE account, and this policy covers them in the same way.

The answerable person's identity is verified by Stripe Identity. You are handed into Stripe's own verification flow, where you photograph a government-issued identity document and, unless you ask for the alternative below, photograph your face. Stripe reads the document, compares the two images, and returns one thing to LE: whether you are the person the document says you are. LE never receives or stores your identity document, your photographs, or the numbers on the document — only the outcome, the date, and a reference code. If verification does not pass, the application stops there and nothing is charged; write to hello@wearele.com and a person will look at it.

The face step makes biometric information. To confirm that the person holding the document is the person pictured in it, Stripe generates a mathematical representation of your face and compares it to the photograph on the document. Beginning the verification is how you consent to that. If you would rather no such representation be made of you, write to privacy@wearele.com before you begin and LE will run a document-only check instead — it is slower and may ask for a second document, and it is not a lesser application. LE never holds any of this; Stripe holds what it collects under its own retention schedule.

What this check is not used for. LE uses it for exactly one thing: to know that a real, answerable adult stands behind a business account. It is never used to decide credit, employment, insurance, housing, or any other purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and LE is not a consumer reporting agency. It is not used for advertising, never shared with other businesses on LE, and never shown on your profile. What other members see is that an account is a business account — never who was verified, or when.

Automatically, like every service on the internet, our infrastructure records the IP address, device and browser type, and time of each request in short-lived technical logs used to keep LE running and secure. LE does not build advertising or behavioral profiles from these. LE keeps no counts and no rankings of who you look at or who looks at you. That is a product decision, not a missing feature.

What LE does not collect: your contacts, your precise location, your photos and videos beyond the ones you choose to post, your activity on other apps or websites, or anything from data brokers.

4. The Love Editor

Everything you write on LE — captions, comments, direct messages, story text, reel captions, and your bio — is read by the Love Editor, an AI, at the moment you go to publish it. It reads what your words are doing. Words that would take from someone — their worth, their time, their answer — are held until they say the true thing, and you are shown what the words were doing and the way through. Nothing is published over a hold, and what is true of you is always welcome. Three further holds sit at the edge of LE rather than inside it: a link out of LE that fails LE's link check; on a personal account, an offer to sell (selling lives in a business account); and on a business account, a sales move built on manufactured urgency, invented lack, or fear.

To do this, your text is sent to Anthropic, the company whose Claude models power the Love Editor, under terms that do not permit it to be used to train their models. LE keeps a record of holds you saw — the held words, the editor's reason, and what you chose — visible to you in Settings → Love Editor Growth, so you can watch your own writing change. Nothing about a hold is shown to anyone else, and there is no score.

Because the Love Editor reads what you write, direct messages on LE are not end-to-end encrypted. They are encrypted in transit and at rest, no person at LE reads them in the ordinary course of things, and LE never sells or mines them. But an AI does read each message once, at send, and LE can access messages when the law requires it or when a child-safety process is triggered. If you need a channel no one but the recipient can ever read, LE is not that channel, and we would rather tell you than have you assume otherwise.

The Love Editor is AI. It sees clearly most of the time and not always. It tells you it is AI on every panel.

5. Child safety

Every image you upload, and frames taken from every video you upload, are checked automatically against databases of known child sexual abuse material before they can be published. LE LLC accesses Shield by Project Arachnid (projectarachnid.ca), a program of the Canadian Centre for Child Protection Inc., to facilitate the detection and removal of child sexual abuse material and harmful-abusive material of children and survivors of child sexual abuse on its services. To perform this check, uploaded media is transmitted to that service; media that matches is not retained by it, and media that does not match may be retained by it under its own terms.

If an upload matches known abuse material, LE is required by United States law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A) to report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's CyberTipline, and to preserve the material and related account information — including the email address, IP address and device information at upload — for the period the law requires (currently one year). No person at LE views that material at any point; the sealed process exists precisely so that no one has to. The account holder is not notified, because notifying would defeat the report. Closing your account does not erase a report already made or the preserved record behind it; the law does not permit it to.

No machine transcribes or reads what is said in your videos. LE does not listen to your audio, and there is no speech-to-text anywhere in the pipeline. That is a design commitment, not a limitation.

LE's full child-safety commitments are set out in its Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse policy, available from abuse@wearele.com. Concerns can be sent to that address at any time; it is never muted.

6. Links and businesses

Any web address you type anywhere on LE is checked by an automated reader before it can be posted, and the destinations business accounts link to are re-read regularly by LE's scanner. Personal accounts cannot post shopping or store links at all. The scanner reads public web pages; it never tracks you.

Businesses on LE are screened at application against LE's Love Standard: the Love Standard screener, an AI reader, compares what the business discloses about its products and supply chain with public records of forced labor, animal cruelty and environmental violations, and anything it cannot assess is returned to the applicant with what is missing. The reader is powered by Anthropic's models under the same no-training terms. Business accounts also have access to Ellee, an AI guide; conversations with Ellee are stored so Ellee can remember them, are visible to the account at all times, are processed by Anthropic (the conversation) and OpenAI (a numerical index of it that lets Ellee find things later), and are never shared with anyone else.

When you follow a business's link out of LE and buy something there, that purchase happens between you and the business, on the business's own site, under its own privacy terms. LE is not part of that transaction and receives no money and no information from it.

7. Who touches your data

LE uses a small number of companies to run the service. Each one receives only what it needs for its job. None of them may sell your data or use it to advertise to you. One of them, Stripe, also uses what it receives to run and improve its own fraud and identity services, and LE is required to tell you that plainly; the paragraph below does.

Supabase — database, sign-in, and photo storage (United States). Stripe — payments, subscriptions, billing address, and identity verification for business applicants. Cloudflare — video hosting and streaming, and the network in front of wearele.com. Netlify — hosting of the web app. Resend and Apple iCloud Mail — sending and receiving LE's email. Anthropic — the AI behind the Love Editor, the link check, the Love Standard screener, and Ellee. OpenAI — the index behind Ellee's memory (business accounts only). Project Arachnid / Canadian Centre for Child Protection — child-safety hash matching, as described above. NCMEC — receives child-safety reports LE is legally required to make. Apple and Google — if you install LE from their app stores, their terms govern what they collect about the install.

Stripe holds and uses what you submit to it under its own privacy policy and its own terms, not only under this one. LE uses Stripe for payment, risk and identity verification services, and shares personally identifying information with Stripe, which analyzes and uses it to operate and improve those services. Stripe's policy is at stripe.com/privacy.

Fonts on LE's web pages are currently served from Google Fonts, which means Google's servers receive your IP address when a page loads. LE does not otherwise use Google services for anything about you.

Beyond this list, LE shares personal data only when the law requires it (a valid legal order, or the child-safety duty above), or to protect someone from imminent harm. If LE LLC is ever acquired or merges, your data goes with the service under this same policy, and you will be told before it happens.

8. How long

Your account data and content stay as long as your account is open. When you close your account from Settings → My Membership → Close My Account, your posts, reels, stories, playlists, comments, messages, profile and photos are deleted — from LE's storage, not just from view — your subscription is cancelled the same day, and if one of your photos was the cover of someone else's playlist, it comes down. What remains: the legally required child-safety preservation described above, if any; Stripe's own records of past payments and of any completed identity verification, which Stripe keeps under its terms; the record of your subscription and account type without your name or email; and a short internal note that a deletion happened, containing only an internal ID, so we can confirm nothing was left behind. Routine backups age out on their own schedule, measured in days and weeks, not months.

Technical logs are kept for a short period, typically days to a few weeks. Hold records from the Love Editor are deleted with your account.

LE holds no biometric information at any point, so there is none to keep or destroy. What Stripe collects during an identity verification is kept on Stripe's own schedule, set out in its policy.

9. Your rights

You can see, correct, export, and delete your data. Most of it you can do yourself: your profile from Edit Profile, your content from the content itself, your whole account from Settings. For an export of everything LE holds about you, or anything you cannot reach yourself, write to privacy@wearele.com from the email on your account and we will answer within 30 days. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian may also write on your behalf.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland: LE processes your data to perform the contract you have with us (the account and subscription), to meet legal obligations (the child-safety duties above), and for LE's legitimate interests in keeping the room safe and working, which do not override your rights. You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object, and you may complain to your local supervisory authority. LE is established in the United States; where your data is transferred there, LE relies on Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards.

If you are in California: LE does not sell or share personal information as those words are defined in the CCPA, and has not in the past twelve months. You have the rights to know, delete, correct, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them.

If you are anywhere else: the same list applies. LE does not gate rights by geography.

10. Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access inside LE is limited to what a job needs, and the most sensitive processes — the child-safety lane above all — are built so that no person can view the material at any step. No system is perfect. If a breach ever affects your data, LE will tell you directly and promptly, and will tell the authorities the law requires, without waiting to be asked.

11. Children

LE is for people 14 and older. We do not knowingly allow anyone younger to hold an account, and if we learn that someone under 14 has one, we delete it. Members under 18 are protected by the trusted-contact line above, cannot hold business accounts, and are covered by every commitment in this policy. LE does not show anyone under 18 to advertisers, because LE has no advertisers.

12. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters to you, LE will tell you inside the app and by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Small clarifications may simply be posted here with a new date. The current version always lives at wearele.com/privacy.
